Privacy Policy

Section Shop is operated under James Law Realty Limited, licensed under the Real Estate Agents Act 2008. This notice explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect

  • Registration details — your name, email address, mobile number, buyer type, regions of interest, budget range and any message you send us.
  • Watches and saved searches — the lots and developments you choose to watch, and the searches you save, so we can alert you to changes.
  • Offer details — when you make an offer, the price, deposit, settlement preference, conditions and messages you submit.
  • Contact and developer enquiry details — what you send us through the contact form or the developer submission form.
  • First-party analytics — pages you view, searches and filters you use, and alert emails we send you. This is collected by our own systems, not by third-party trackers. Your IP address is stored only as a one-way hash, and our analytics records never contain the contents of your messages.

Why we collect it

  • To match you with sections and send you the alerts and watch updates you asked for.
  • To present your offers to the right developer or salesperson.
  • To operate, secure and improve the marketplace (including our aggregate, anonymised market statistics such as the NZ Land Index).
  • To meet our obligations as a licensed real estate agency, including record-keeping.

Who we share it with

  • When you make an offer on a lot, your offer details and contact information are disclosed to the developer of that development and/or their appointed salesperson, so they can consider and respond to your offer.
  • If you enquire specifically about a development, we may pass your enquiry to that development's sales team.
  • We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers. Market statistics we publish are aggregated and do not identify you.

Storage and security

Your information is stored on servers we control, with access limited to the people who need it to operate Section Shop. We keep your information while your registration is active and for as long afterwards as we reasonably need it for the purposes above, including our agency record-keeping obligations.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it. You can also ask us to delete your information — we'll do that unless we're required to keep it (for example, records of a transaction we were involved in). For any privacy request, email james@jameslaw.co.nz.

Unsubscribing

Every alert and marketing email we send carries an unsubscribe link that works immediately, no questions asked. Unsubscribing stops future alerts but keeps your registration details unless you also ask us to delete them.
